<p> PASCO Motion Sensor Technical Hints</p><p>1. Be sure the computer is on. You do not need to start any programs at this point.</p><p>2. Plug the Motion Sensor cable into the Xplorer</p><p>3. plug the small end of the USB cable into the left side of the Xplorer.</p><p>4. plug the large end of the USB cable into a USB port on the computer or into a USB hub that is connected to the computer.</p><p>5. The Xplorer will turn on and in a few seconds the PASPortal window will appear on the computer screen. Click on “Launch DataStudio” in the PASPortal window. DataStudio will open with a graph display. 6. Place the Motion Sensor at the edge of a table or desk with the gold disk of the sensor facing toward the walking track.</p><p>7. Be sure the switch on the top of the Motion Sensor is set in the Long Range position. 8. The walking track should be a clear area at least 5 meters long and 1 meter wide without any obstacles.</p><p>9. When a person is ready to move along the walking track, click the Start button on the DataStudio Toolbar to begin graphing the motion.</p><p>10.When you are finished graphing motion, click the Stop button on the DataStudio toolbar.</p><p>11.To save your graph, select Save Activity As… from the DataStudio menu bar. Use the Save As dialog box to select a location and enter a name for your file. 12.You can collect data from several trials on a single graph then use the Data button on the graph tool bar to show or hide the data.</p><p>For the Trial II predictions, follow the steps below to create a drawing on the DataStudio graph. 1. In DataStudio hold the mouse cursor over a number on the horizontal (time) axis until the cursor changes to a double headed curly arrow ( ). Press the left mouse button and drag the numbers until you have at least 60 seconds showing on the horizontal axis. 2. Click the Drawing tool ( ) on the graph’s tool bar. 3. With the mouse cursor on the graph, hold down the left mouse button and use the mouse to draw a line on the graph to show your prediction. 4. You can use the Note tool ( ) on the graph toolbar to add notations to your graph.</p>
