MURRAY Lieutenant Governor</p><p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Wednesday, July 25, 2012 Russell Aims (781) 876-8267</p><p>STATE BOARD OF MEDICINE TAKES DISCIPLINARY ACTION</p><p>WAKEFIELD: At its meeting today the state Board of Registration in Medicine took disciplinary action against the medical licenses of Abode L. Hamoush, M.D., Jordan Fleishhacker, M.D. and Charles R. Morin, M.D.</p><p>The Board found that Dr. Abode L. Hamoush practiced medicine while impaired and inappropriately prescribed controlled substances. Today the Board indefinitely suspended Dr. Hamoush’s license to practice medicine. The suspension may be stayed upon his demonstration that he is fit to practice medicine, and entry into a Probation Agreement requiring compliance with a practice plan and monitoring. Dr. Hamoush is a 1997 graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University. He is board certified in Psychiatry, and has been licensed in Massachusetts since 2005.</p><p>Dr. Jordan Fleishhacker was found to have demonstrated a pattern or practice that calls into question his competence to practice surgery or to perform invasive procedures; to have committed malpractice; and, engaged in conduct that has the capacity to deceive or defraud. Today the Board reprimanded Dr. Fleishhacker, fined him $5,000 and permanently restricted his practice from performing or assisting in the performance of surgery or invasive procedures. Dr. Fleishhacker is a 1991 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is board certified in Surgery and was licensed in Massachusetts from 2001 through 2004.</p><p>Dr. Charles R. Morin was reprimanded. The Board found that he inappropriately prescribed controlled substances to a colleague. Dr. Morin is a 1976 graduate of Brown University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Psychiatry and has been licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts since 1994. </p><p>The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine licenses more than 40,000 physicians, osteopaths and acupuncturists. The Board was created in 1894 to protect the public health and safety by setting standards for the practice of medicine and ensuring that doctors who practice in the Commonwealth are appropriately qualified and competent. The Board investigates complaints, holds hearings and determines sanctions.
