<p> Little Einsteins Day Nursery Ltd</p><p>Operational Policies and Procedures – Promoting hygiene</p><p>Promoting hygiene </p><p>Little Einsteins Day Nursery Ltd has good hygiene practices including; </p><p>• Cleaning table tops and work surfaces between activities; using the appropriate colour coded cloths – yellow is used to clean up food and drink, blue is used to clean up after craft activities, green is used to clean up at the end of the session / to sterilise toys, and red is used to clean up bodily fluids. Please note that red cloths should only be used to clean up bodily fluids on equipment / the nursery environment (i.e. bathroom areas) etc. and red / pink flannels should be used to clean up bodily fluids on a child, member of staff or visitor </p><p>• Mopping floors as and when required and between activities as necessary; using the appropriate colour coded mop and bucket – yellow is used to clean up food and drink, blue is used to clean up after craft activities, green is used to clean up at the end of the session, and red is used to clean up bodily fluids. Please note that in extenuating circumstances i.e. when bodily fluids come into contact with a rug / carpet, it may be deemed necessary to use the appropriate sanitising spray and red cloth to clean it up </p><p>• Reducing the risk of cross contamination by washing and drying different items separately i.e. all face cloths and bibs in the washing machine / dryer together, all blue and green cloths / mop heads in the washing machine / dryer together, all soiled clothes / red cloths / red and pink flannels in the washing machine / dryer together, bedding and children’s comfort items or toys in the washing machine / dryer together, table cloths on a wash and dry cycle on their own etc. Please note that under no circumstances should yellow cloths and yellow mop heads be placed in the same wash together! </p><p>• Checking toilets regularly; to ensure that they are clean, and making sure that both children and staff have access to liquid soap / hand drying facilities, as well as toilet paper, and that bins / nappy bins are not overflowing </p><p>• Using personal protective clothing, such as disposable gloves and aprons when cleaning and when in contact with bodily fluids </p><p>• Changing children’s nappies and undergarments immediately, when they are wet or soiled. Storing rubbish such as nappies safely in a sealed bag, and in a bin with a lid.
