To build relationships with key stakeholders in English in the Philippines. 2. To identify and deliver opportunities for English projects that meet partner objectives and achieve income and impact targets for the British Council.</p><p>Context and environment: </p><p>The British Council in East Asia is committed to delivering an ambitious programme to help transform the quality of English language learning and teaching. The aim of the programme is to enable teachers to help people, through better English language skills, to achieve their education and career aspirations, and to enable participation in the global conversation on world issues. </p><p>This is a new role in the Philippines where we are exploring opportunities for English for Education Systems (EES). The aim is to establish EES here as a sustainable business. The initial priority of the role will be to understand local needs and demands for EES products and to build key relationships. The focus will then shift towards the identification of specific opportunities and the delivery of projects. Developing a sustainable EES business in the Philippines will support our East Asia strategy and will be an important part of broadening the British Council’s profile in the country.</p><p>Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties: </p><p>The post-holder will be accountable for delivering agreed plans and targets for EES in the Philippines.</p><p>Specific Responsibilities:</p><p>1. Identify new business opportunities for EES in the Philippines (30%)  Research and identify opportunities to achieve impact and income targets, especially in the context of K to 12 reforms in basic education, and identify needs of local partners.  Work with Country Director and regional EES colleagues to develop new business opportunities. 2. Build and manage relationships (20%)</p><p>1 of 4 Recruitment Team June 2011  Work with Country Director and colleagues in Education and in Exams to build relationships with customers / clients / partners / stakeholders, contributing to EES programme development. </p><p>3. Manage delivery of projects to stakeholder satisfaction (30%) 4. Financial planning and management (15%)  Plan and manage allocated budgets (income targets & expenditure) & programme impact targets  Ensure British Council policies and procedures are followed in terms of the finance function; HR function; Equal Opportunity & Diversity; and Child Protection.  Manage information created and received in compliance with the British Council’s information management standards, policies, UK Data Protection Principles and local legislation.</p><p>5. Provide input into EES strategy for the Philippines (5%)  Provide input to Country Director and regional EES team to develop a strategy to establish EES as a sustainable business in the Philippines.</p><p>Key relationships: </p><p>Internal: Country Director; Business Development Manager, Exams; Business Development Manager, Contracts and Partnerships; Education Team; Regional EES team.</p><p>External: DepEd, CHED, TESDA, universities, head teachers, teacher trainers, teachers</p><p>Other important features or requirements of the job </p><p>Some travel around Philippines, occasional travel outside of the Philippines.
