<p> State of Kansas COOP TTX Module 1</p><p>Monday June 8th, 2009 at 8:30AM The “Swine Flu’ Comes to Topeka</p><p>Scenario:</p><p>Upon coming in to work you notice that many of your co-workers are wearing masks and keeping their distance. A quick glance at a local news website indicates that the flu virus has been identified as H1N1, the “Swine Flu.” You also notice that there are a many more vacant desks than normal. Fully 25% of your staff has elected to stay home, some because of illness, some because of an illness within the family, and some because of fear of infection. Your boss has told you to keep operations running and instructed you to activate your COOP.</p><p>Questions:</p><p> How is your COOP activated and utilized?  Who activated the COOP? What if they are out Sick?  How is your Agency prepared to react to this sudden event?  How is your Agency gathering information about the current situation in the region? From whom?  How does your management staff communicate with key staff about the current status?  How does your Agency (or the State) communicate information to employees?  What decisions are made about continuing operations for Monday morning?
