We will be having a Socratic Seminar about the various aspects of government and politics in China during the time periods about which the author writes. You will need to use specific details (with page references) from the memoir to support your opinions. This is due on ______.</p><p> Why do the Nationalists (KMT) fail to get the support of the Chinese people and control of the whole country?  Why do the Communists succeed?  How is the “cult of Mao” depicted in the book?  How does the Communist Party “interfere” in the lives of the Chinese people?  How do women’s roles (socially & politically) change throughout various times in Chinese history?  Why do people become disillusioned with the Communist Party?  What is the relationship of an individual to his/her government?  Should the collective good take precedence over individual’s rights?  Do the goals of the government justify the actions which might violate people’s rights?</p><p>You will also need to create two (2) open-ended questions.</p>
