<p> PAO-CHIANG YUAN, PH.D.</p><p>Professor/Coordinator Hazardous Materials Management/Emergency Management Program Department of Technology College of Science, Engineering and Technology Jackson State University Jackson, Mississippi [email protected]</p><p>Dr. Pao-Chiang Yuan is the Professor/Coordinator of the Hazardous Materials Management/Management Program for the Department of Technology’s College of Science, Engineering and Technology at Jackson State University (JSU). He is also the principal investigator of the Homeland Security-related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (HS-STEM)-Minority Serving Institutions Enrichment Leadership Program funded by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2010, and the DHS HS-STEM Career Development for Post-Secondary Institutions Grant. Dr. Yuan received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) research grant for a Health Impact Study in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in East Biloxi, Mississippi.</p><p>Dr. Yuan has published more than 70 abstracts and articles in journals, and he has contributed chapters in 4 books. He is a peer reviewer for State and private grant programs, and he is a board member of the EPA Monitoring Group, Gulf of Mexico Program. Dr. Yuan is the JSU/Hinds County/Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Computer Recycling Program director and principal investigator, a position he has held since 2000. He is a loyal member of the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering and the International Association of Emergency Managers. He is a Certified Senior Technology Manager and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. Dr. Yuan served as an editor of the International Journal of Environmental Engineering.</p><p>Dr. Yuan’s research has focused on promoting the reduction of electronic waste in the waste stream, indoor air pollution, Geographic Information System application, emergency management, and homeland security.</p><p>Dr. Yuan holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering (environmental/water resources engineering) from Oklahoma State University.</p><p>May 7, 2012</p>
