We will develop advanced skills in analytical problem solving and laboratory experimentation; for example, we will measure the speed of laser light, and we will measure the charge of an electron. By the end of the course, we will understand how quantum mechanics arose from controversy to become the foundation of the periodic table, biochemistry, and modern electronics. The topics are challenging and often mind-boggling. Questions are welcome and strongly encouraged! Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. Homework is due in class.
