Reinforcing Loop Archetypes

REINFORCING LOOP ARCHETYPES

Escalation

Using the escalation archetype, model the following true story. I recently cashed in an IRA and deposited it into my small local bank. Then I saw an advertisement for a higher interest rate at a larger national bank. When I told my local bank I wanted to transfer the money to the out- bank, they agreed to up the interest rate to beat their out-of-state competition. I then told the out-of-state bank what was going on, and they increased their rate once again. I was in a price war and I was the winner! Then add the balancing loop(s) that stop this escalation. Include all loop and arrow signs.

Success to the Successful

Using the Success to the Successful archetype, model the phenomenon of the more heavily capitalized big, national banks that getting bigger, while the undercapitalized small, local banks are getting less competitive. Then add the balancing loop(s) that helps “level the playing field” to keep local banks in business. Include all loop and arrow signs.
