<p> Hallettsville Independent School District School Health Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes October 12, 2012</p><p>These minutes are preliminary… pending approval.</p><p>The SHAC meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm in the Administration Office Conference Room.</p><p>Members present were: Sophie Teltschik, Susan Dolezal, Dr. Jo Ann Bludau, Tobi Appelt, Jodi Carson, Dr. Mandy Bucek, Theresa Kostelnik, and Aaron Etzler. </p><p>There were no minutes from the last meeting for the 2010-2011 school year. The SHAC met briefly on and off over a 2 day period when HISD held the Teen Safety Health Fair. SHAC members were the volunteers for that event.</p><p>The summer nutrition program was discussed. According to SB 89 any school district with 50% or more students eligible for free or reduced lunches must provide a summer nutrition program. HISD is greater than 50%. Brenda Herrington has all the information and is looking into it. We may be eligible for a waiver. Aaron Etzler said that Gonzales ISD contracts theirs out. </p><p>The SHAC decided to use Kelly Haas again this year with her Worth The Wait sex education program. HISD’s intent for sex education was added to the handbook this year as well. </p><p>Chairman Appelt discussed a little bit about HISD’s new Concussion Management Plan according to the Texas Education Code # 38.153-38.159.</p><p>Theresa Kostelnik updated the committee about the tuberculosis testing in a north Texas school. Schools as of now will not require TB testing. Schools need to emphasize the importance of students and employees staying home when ill. </p><p>The MADD campaign will try to host meetings to parents to discuss the dangers of alcohol. HISD may be a host to one of those meetings. This will be discussed later as we get more information. </p><p>The next meeting will be January 11, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the Admin. Office. Check the HISD web-site for the agenda and these meetings minutes. Other meetings this year~ March 21st and May 16th.</p><p>Motion to adjourn at 4:25 pm by Susan Dolezal, seconded by Aaron Etzler.</p>
