<p>POSITION DESCRIPTION – SPECIAL COLLECTIONS LIBRARIAN </p><p>Position title Special Collections Librarian Designation Level 4 (Municipal Officer) ASTC EA Position no. P2340 Responsible to Manager, Library Services Position status Permanent, full-time Position description approved</p><p>Primary Objective Develop, manage and promote the Special Collections of the Alice Springs Public Library</p><p>Key Responsibilities 1. Liaise with Collection Development Librarian to identify appropriate resources for purchasing and manage the Special Collections Budget. 2. Plan and deliver events that promote and engage the community with the Special Collections. 3. Liaise with external organisations relating to the development of the Special Collections areas 4. Provide Special Collection reference services to customers. 5. Provide quality customer service. 6. Assist in library planning and policy development. 7. Undertake other duties as directed, consistent with the primary objective of the position.</p><p>Delegations Nil</p><p>Supervisory Responsibilities This position supports the Manager of Library Services in providing supervisory assistance when required.</p><p>Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications in Library and Information studies Eligible for Associate membership of ALIA</p><p>Selection Criteria</p><p>Essential</p><p>1. Interest in Local History collections with the ability to critically assess materials regarding their inclusion in a Library collection. 2. Ability to provide reference services to customers online and in house resources. 3. Experience in planning and delivering programs and events. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise with a cross section of community groups 5. Sound knowledge of current trends, standards and practices in the delivery of public library services. 6. A ‘can do’ attitude in delivering quality, timely and innovative library services, activities and programs. 7. Ability to effectively manage a budget. 8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 9. Ability to assist in library planning & policy development. 10. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Studies and eligibility for Associate membership of ALIA.</p><p>Desirable</p><p>1. Experience in a cross-cultural environment. 2. Knowledge of digitisation and copyright. 3. Cataloguing experience. 4. Experience working in a public library 5.
