<p>WHITE FLINT DOWNTOWN ADVISORY COMMITTEE March 11, 2014 Location: Lerner 7th Floor Conference Room Present: Francine Waters, Cliff Cohen, Bob Daley, Tara Flynn, Brian Downie, Andy Shulman, Paul Meyer, Peggy Schwartz, Dee Metz, Deirdre Johnson, Ken Hartman, Beverly Haller Visitors: Chief Steven Lohr & Chief John Dimitriasis (MCFRS), Nkosi Yearwood (Planning), Kyle Liang (MCDOT),Cindy Gibson (Berliner), Kristi Smith (JBG), Aaron Kraut (BethesdaNow.com), Ginanne Italiano (BCC Chamber), Jay Corbalis (FRIT), Lindsay Hoffman (FOWF) 8:00 AM - The WFDAC meeting was called to order by Francine Waters and handouts were provided describing 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard, Lerner Corporate Headquarters, LEED Platinum facility. MOTION: A motion was made and seconded to approve the February 12, 2014 Meeting Summary. The motion passed. UPDATES: Updates were provided to the committee by: Ken Hartman; Francine & Cliff to update Leggett @annual mtg. Francine Waters; TAP proposal submitted Dee Metz; Discussed budget requests Peggy Schwartz; Announced ‘Bike to Work’ day, & business surveys Nkosi Yearwood; Saul Center sketch plan PRESENTATION; WASHINGTON GAS FIRE Chief Steve Lohr, MCFRS, discussed the fire on 02-12-14, 6:11:14 AM at 11801 Nebel St., Wash. Gas maintenance facility. The fire originated in a garage bay & was ignited due to a natural gas vehicle leak. Station #23 responded. Complicating factors included icy conditions. No life safety issues, although fire spread rapidly due to significant fuel load. PRESENTATION: Nebel Street Pedestrian Safety Kyle Liang, MCDOT, discussed plans for improving pedestrian and traffic safety along Nebel St. MOTION: A motion was made & seconded to write a letter in support of proposed changes to improve safety at intersections around Nebel, Marinelli, Old Georgetown Rd, & Citadel. The motion passed. Website Development Project Ken Hartman discussed the development by the Regional Services Center of a web site to promote the 220 retail businesses & restaurants. The website will promote History of W. Flint; Retail/restaurants; housing; and development activity. The web site will include a twitter feed for news. The County will own & run the website until a business/urban partnership is established. Committee Updates </p><p> Maintenance & Beautification Streetscape plan for FRIT, TAP proposal, median plan, branding, coordinate w/web site</p><p> Strategic Planning - Cliff writing officer, committee guidelines New Business None. Next meeting announced: 04/08/14, 8-9:15am. MOTION: A motion was made & seconded to adjourn. The motion passed.</p>
