Dear 2012 Graduate

Dear 2012 Graduate

1

Dear 2012 Graduate:

In cooperation with other universities around the country, we are conducting a survey of recent graduates of SUBSTITUTE FOR: THE GRADY COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION. The purpose of the survey is to learn of the experiences journalism and communication graduates after the completion of their degrees. By joining with other universities on this project, we will gather data that will help us understand the experience of SUBSTITUTE FOR: GRADY GRADUATES in comparison with others around the country.

I am asking that you take a few minutes now to fill out the enclosed questionnaire and return it in the stamped envelope provided. The return address is for the College of Journalism & Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, where results from the project are being tabulated.

This confidential survey enables us to understand where the jobs in communications are each year and where students report having the most difficulty finding work. The information will help us inform future students about where they most likely will find jobs, how much they can expect to earn in those first jobs and what they should do to better prepare for careers in communications.

This project is being sponsored by a number of organizations with an interest in journalism and mass communication education, including the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication, Gannett, Hearst Corporation, the McCormick Foundation, the Newspaper Association of America, and the Scripps-Howard Foundation. In addition, a leadership group of top journalism and communication programs within the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication is providing support.

Your experiences since graduating will help these organizations and the SUBSTITUTE FOR: THE GRADY COLLEGE advise future students.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to answer these confidential questions. A cover letter from Dr. Lee B. Becker, project director at the University of Georgia, follows this letter and explains the procedures.

Sincerely,

XXX

Dean/Director/Department Head
