<p> “A Trip to Calvary”-Rom.5:8</p><p>2000 years ago,outside the city of Jersalem at a place called Calvary,a man named Jesus died on a cross………the cross was in the heart of God from all eternity……the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world……understand Christianity you must go to the cross (I Cor.1:18)put His love on display***text** “commendeth”-to put together……to prove…… **dandelions**every drop of blood-“Helovesme” ***title***</p><p>I-Who is it on the Cross ?(“Christ died for us”) A-He was a man 1-His birth (came as a man) 2-His body (tempted-never sinned) 3-knew what it was to suffer (“Jesus wept”) 4-***hospital*** B-He was a unique man 1-Son of man-Son of God on the cross! C-He was the God Man 1-Jn. 1:1 (eternity,equality,divinity) 2-“The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us” 3-“Immanuel”-God with us 4-miracles 5-as a man-got tired:as God-“I’ll give you rest”……man-hungry:God-lad’s lunch and fed thousands……man-got thirsty:God-He filled a woman’s heart with living water…… man-rode a ship:God-walked on the water……… man-stood before a grave and wept:God-He raised the dead man from the grave!!! II-What Did He Do? (“Christ died”) -nothing unusual about dying***obituaries…………… hospitals……ambulance……Mamma***”The young may die and the old must die.” -something unusual about His death -not an incident……not an accident A-His death was an achievement 1-II Cor.5:19 “God was in Christ,reconciling the world unto Himself.” 2-**Martin Luther:God forsaken of God a-**”Well might the sun in darkness hide,and shut it’s glories in.When Christ the Mighty Maker died for man the creatures sin.”****** B-it was a divinely prepared body 1-O.T.:sacrificial animals……no blemishes 2-Jesus had a sinless body 3-“died”:a violent death………to describe the slaughter of animals……tore His body to shreds ……..smashed His body to pulp……beat Him……spit…… scourged His back(road map painted in red)…… thrust a spear into His side 4-He bore our sins in His body on the tree C-He shed His blood (Acts 20:28) III-Why Did He Do It? (v.8) A-to pardon us from our sins 1-sin:accident-abomination……chance-choice………… defect-disease……error-enmity……trifle-tragedy weakness-wickedness……***sin is to blame***** 2-see it in the prisons………broken homes…… 3-take a trip to Calvary and see the awfulness of sin!!! 4-“The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.” 5-“preacher,just dust me off a little”******* B-to give us power over our sins 1-***man in Florida who was arrested for breaking into a Correctional Center………not out ---in!…….girlfriend quit answering his letters…………released on $2,500 bond 2-**some Christians:set them free from the prison……let them out of the cell………go right back into the old prisons of addictive behaviour and enslaving actions…… 3-put themselves in cells of bitterness and cells of shame and cells of destruction 4-***cell door is wide open-don’t have to be a slve to sin anymore!!!!!
