<p> Trading and Profit and Loss Accounts: Further Considerations</p><p>A businesses main objective is to make a profit. In some cases it will make a loss. The financial account that is used to show the owner(s) profits generated or losses incurred is the Income Statement. The Income Statement is also known as the Trading and Profit/Loss account. The income statement is of interest to the tax authorities in addition to the owner(s) because they will use it to calculate the tax owed to the government. </p><p>The Income Statement is divided into two parts: 1- The Trading Account in which the Gross Profit or Loss is calculated.
