<p> LADIES OF IMANI SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE</p><p>Dear Student:</p><p>Thank you for your interest in the Ladies of IMANI Scholarship for Excellence. The Ladies of IMANI is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization of professional women from the Washington Metropolitan area. Founded by Stacie Lee-Banks in 1989, the Ladies of IMANI mission is to make a positive impact in the Washington Metropolitan area by sponsoring a variety of community based programs. A major component of the Ladies of IMANI organization is the Scholarship Awards for Excellence.</p><p>The following is an explanation of the award process. Two graduating high school seniors will be awarded a scholarship of $1,000.00 and one will be awarded a scholarship of $500.00. Each student must complete the attached application (Attachment 1), along with the other requirements (Attachment 2) in order to be eligible.</p><p>ESSAY </p><p>Complete an essay on the following topic (essay must not exceed 100 words). </p><p>What influential person living or dead would you most like to have a conversation with? What question would you ask the person and why?</p><p>Essays will be numerically evaluated based on the following criteria: </p><p> Grammar  Spelling  Clarity  Content </p><p>Please submit a completed application to the following address no later than Friday, April 1, 2011.</p><p>Ladies of IMANI P.O. Each finalist will be required to complete a Ladies of IMANI community service project. A schedule of community service events will be provided to each finalist, one of which they must participate in order to remain eligible.</p><p>COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITY</p><p>Each finalist will be responsible for participating in one (1) community service event with the Ladies of IMANI.
