Ask a friend or relative to pose for a sketch for more than 1/2 hour and you will see how important the model sessions are at our center! We have enlisted professional and amateur models, including some members of GAC, who will pose for three hours (with breaks, of course). These valuable model sessions are now being held on the third Thursday of each month, from 10:00 am to 12:30 am. The fee is just $10 for a session. The daytime hours are a switch from the evening sessions of the past years and provide a stimulus to encourage more participation. Consider the folllowing benefits to attending figure drawing: * the small group experience is encouraging and supportive. * the creative and fundamental discipline of drawing persons from life will be reflected in other art work. * tips and strategies can be available to the first time participant, as necessary. * GAC models will not complain and protest - unlike your family recruit! Consider coming out to draw the model and lift your artwork to new and amazing heights. You will be glad that you did it!! Also, be looking for potential models - models are paid $40 for their sitting. If you would like to model or have discovered someone who would like to, please call Carolyn Taylor with their contact information at 724-600-0902.

DONATIONS - Thanks to Sue White, Bob Demangone and the IDD volunteers for their donations.

For all of you who love the Greensburg Art Center and the opportunities that it presents: -the studios, equipment, and tools that allow us to pursue our creative interests in a nurturing environment, whether new to the arts or decades long participants - special creative sessions for senior care persons, IDD (Intellectual and Intelligence Disabilities) students, home schoolers, scout and 4H groups -a venue for exhibiting artists and artisans to promote their works -community wide free and affordable events that happily mix the visual and musical arts within a social context SHOW YOUR SUPPORT IN A MEANINGFUL WAY TO HELP US CONTINUE TO SERVE AS A TRUE COMMUNITY ART CENTER THROUGH YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE CENTER…Download the Special Donor Form at http://www.greensburgartcenter.org/GAC/special-donors/or to donate via PayPal

WE’RE LOOKING FOR NEW MONITORS !!! We have permanent monitors who take the same day every month...like the 1st. Tues. 10AM to 1PM or the 3rd Friday 1PM to 4PM. If a monitor does not want to commit to a certain day every month, I put them on the "fill-in " list and call each of them every month to see which of the remaining days they are willing to take. Once in awhile, a permanent monitor is unable to take his/her shift so I see if any of the other permanent monitors are willing to trade. If that is not possible, I contact the monitors on the "fill in" list to see if any of them can take that shift. The permanent monitors have signed up for one, two or three shifts a month. Some of the "fill in" monitors also sign up for more than one day, though most do a single shift....which is fine. I am presently training new monitors to share the work, since some of the regulars have had to quit due to health problems, or are unavailable for a month or two at a time. The monitors are the members who keep GAC open on a day to day basis! Let me know which days you are available for training and we'll get you scheduled. Thanks for being willing to help. Alice

Monitor Schedule now on the web http://www.greensburgartcenter.org/GAC/ pulldown menue under “Welcome”

NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT – Renie Pollock

MEMBER SILENT AUCTION – COLLECTED TREASURES – Well, thankfully some of us purged our art inventory and made a little money in the process. Although, just as likely, some of us ended up buying as much (or more) than we sold. SIGH! But after a rocky start, our closing receptions made this a successful event that should tide us over for another 5 years.

ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF MEMBERSHIP – Everyone who weathered the cold while I took it easy in Austin should be congratulated for keeping the center open and fully functioning. Thank you so much for your dedication – our wonderful monitors as well as our Executive Board, especially Sue Kiren and Pat Majcher, who stepped in to fulfill some of my responsibilities during my time away. You have given me the luxury of knowing that our center is in good hands while I'm away.

ART ON THE VINE – PAINTING DONATIONS - If you’re still finding small pieces of art that you want to give renewed life to,let me know. We’ll be collecting pieces of art for the art auction that will accompany this annual wine tasting event. Pieces are to be no larger than 16” x 20” but preferably smaller than that. You can donate existing pieces or brand new. We will provide the framing if need be. I would like to have all the pieces together by March 20 so that I can handle the framing and cataloguing. If you need substrates on which to paint brand new images just email me as soon as possible… [email protected]. This year’s event has the added bonus of allowing us to purchase our favorite wines on site that we discover that night during the tasting experience. Every year just gets better and better. EXHIBIT OPPORTUNITIES- PLEASE CHECK OUT THE ATTACHED PROSPECTUS FOR THE GAC BIENNIAL "RHYTHMS" WHICH WILL BE JUDGED BY BUD GIBBONS. THIS WILL BE A BIGGER THAN EVER EVENT WITH LIVE MUSIC INSIDE AND OUTDOORS DURING A 4 HOUR RECEPTION. GET YOUR ART SUPPLIES OUT AND IN ACTION!!!
