User Guide for the Lesson Context Form (LO2)

What is an LO2 Context Form? An LO2 Context Form builds a group profile of your students which is taken from the register. It will evidence student starting points, their individual needs and provide a record of in year performance (e.g. attendance, target setting etc.) This will pull information from each student’s individual learning plan from Pro-Monitor.

It will evidence:

Abbreviation List (Abbr) Abbreviation List (Abbr) Abbreviation List Full Name Abbr. The LO2 was recognised as best practice by Ofsted consultants when they visited to undertake External Quality Reviews. In addition, during Internal Quality Reviews, external observers also noted they were exemplary. However, it was also said there was inconsistent effective use to inform differentiated teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom. In other words, we plan differentiated / individualised learning very well on paper, but this does not always extend in actual classroom practice. Therefore, if you have a good LO2 make sure what you say about students is reflected through differentiated teaching, learning and assessment in your classroom.

Expectations

Minimum expectations: an LO2 and a Lesson Plan must be presented to observers for IQR and EQRs, walkthroughs and Ofsted Inspections.

Recommendation for outstanding practice: It is recommended you also use the LO2 to demonstrate distance travelled and progress in learning by regularly printing off through the academic year. This would provide good evidence for Personal Development and Welfare (PDBW). For example:

 Through the at risk indicators

 Through skills development e.g. if a student rarely speaks in class but develops this employability skill through the year it would clearly be seen on the LO2 though comments you make on skills development. Accessing LO2 context form on the new server 1 1. Click on the following link https://ssrs.kirkleescollege.ac.uk/Reports/browse/Staff/Reports

2. Click on LO2 Form in the list, choose the parameters and the report will run

3. Download as a Word Doc to add your comments for individual students. If you are using the context form for observation, you can also add what you want your observer to know and the context of the lesson:

What do you want your observer to know? Personal development, behaviour and welfare Are students confident; are their attitudes to learning excellent? Does this have an impact on their progress? Are they proud of their achievements? Take pride in their work? Do all take part in discussions and debate issues showing respect for peers ideas & points of view? Can students manage their own feelings & behaviour in your lessons?

What is the context of the lesson? E.g. Where does the session fit on the scheme of work? How do you manage ALS, how does the content link to prior learning? What other units/assessment does the session relate to? What went before and what will happen next?

4.You can then print your document.

2
