<p> History Primer Assignment United States History Mr. Schneider</p><p>Writing: You will be assigned a letter with which to construct one page in our history primer book.  You will write a two-lined verse similar to the examples below. o Obviously the verse must rhyme.  Instead of focusing on religious themes like they do in the New England Primer, I’d like you to focus on something historical o See the index of your text for assistance. o Select a historical person or event and read about it.  Create a rhyme that makes logical sense when applied to the person/event you have chosen.  Like the New England Primer, you should try to apply a moral lesson with your rhyme if you can.  Italicize the historical word you select.  The font size should be about 24 pt. but can be larger… see what looks good on the page, right justify the text, use whatever font looks good to you (see example)  Go to View  Header and Footer  Type your name and the period in top right corner  Humor is great, but do not be obnoxious!!!  If you use a historical figure, the letter you were assigned must apply to the person’s last name</p><p>E.g. When Perry put out to sea, The British began to flee</p><p>Drawing: Next, you should use your artistic abilities to draw a cartoon that illustrates the message of your rhyme as they did below. You may use color in your drawing if you like, but it is not mandatory. The picture will appear on the left side of the page. </p><p>Format: Type the rhyme on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. The paper must be landscape. </p><p>The text must appear on the right and the picture drawn on the left.</p><p>Extra Points may be awarded for humor and artistry. </p>
