<p> Mrs. O’Reilly’s 2nd/3rd Grade Room 16 Weekly Newsletter Week of Apr. 11th-Apr. 15th, 2011 News and Notes : 1. Weekly Spelling Words: (the “oo” sound spellings -ew, -oo, -ue, -oe and the “oo” sound spelling like in book.) (Challenge words)- choose, view, scoop, jewel, scooter, juice, cruel, rooster, fruit, moose, foolish, suit (Sentence of the Week)- The foolish moose made juice. </p><p>2. BIG BANANA- The “Big Banana” this week is Aurora Leal. Next week, the “Big Banana” will be Michael Chiu.</p><p>3. WEEKLY WIZARD- The “Weekly Wizard” this week will be James Yoon. Next week, the “Weekly Wizard” will be Jordan Pogue.</p><p>4. BOOK REPORT- BIOGRAPHY- The book report is due: April 15, 2011. I have sent home the poster that goes along with it. Homework this week is to finish up the book report and turn in both the poster and typed write-up of your biography person!</p><p>5. COLLABORATION- This Wednesday is another early release day. Please mark your calendars... School will be dismissed at 1:50 pm. </p><p>6. PARENT SURVEY-A flyer was sent home today asking parents to complete an online survey about our school. I have added the reminder as an attachment to the email. We would really appreciate you taking the time to tell us what you think about our school. It really helps us to serve you and your children properly! I have added incentive to completing the survey for your child! If you complete it, print out the completion form, and return it to me, your child will get a few extra tickets for this week’s drawing! Thank you for your support!</p><p>7. SPRING PICTURES- I sent home the pictures today. These have not been paid for. If you would like to keep any, you will need to pay for them. You do not have to purchase any, though. This time, if you would like to keep any pictures, you can take them out of the envelope and return any unwanted pictures in the envelope with a check. The company is asking that you return the pictures AND/OR money by Friday, April 15, 2011. Thank you.</p><p>8. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR-Next week is the Scholastic Book fair. It will run from Monday April 18- Thursday April 21st. I do not know where it is located just yet. We’ll find out tomorrow when we have our Library time! Mark your calendars for BOOK FUN!</p><p>9. MINIMUM DAY & STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY- Friday April 22, 2011 & Monday April 25, 2011- School will be dismissed at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 22, 2011. Please make appropriate accommodations. Also, there will NOT be school for students on Monday, April 25, 2011 due to a Staff Development Day. </p><p>10. MOTHER’S DAY Spring Celebration- April 22, 2011 11:30 am- 12:30 pm This year I wanted to do something special for all you mothers who help your child every day! It doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. On this special day, we are going to have a little “party” to celebrate YOU for an “early” Mother’s Day! I will be planning everything with the students, all you mothers have to do is show up here in room 16 at 11:30 am-12:30 pm and we will show you what we have in store for you! This is a minimum day and school is dismissed at 12:30 pm. If you are unable to make this, don’t fret! Your child will still be able to bring home your goodies. Also, we will be having an end – of-year BBQ at Kolb Park to celebrate “Father’s Day & End-of- School-Year” and you can come to that! </p><p>11. FRED BEAUTIFICATION DAY- Saturday, April 30, 2011. More information to come on this!</p><p>12.
