<p> Learning From the News – Dance for All: Ballet Boyz KS3 Lesson plan – Dance for All: Ballet Boyz: PE p.01 Useful links and Teachers TV links p.02</p><p>Lesson Plan: Dance for All: Ballet Boyz Lesson overview: Pupils will learn more about dance and ballet Key Stage 3 PE: Developing physical and mental capacity Objectives Outcomes Pupils will: Pupils should learn:  develop their physical strength, stamina, speed and  more about dance flexibility to cope with the demands of different activities (2.3) Resources  Video lesson starter: http://www.teachers.tv/videos/dance-for-all-ballet-boyz  A whiteboard to show the video on  Contemporary street dance music Starter  Whole class activity: Show the video http://www.teachers.tv/videos/dance-for-all- ballet-boyz  Ask the pupils if they have watched the film Streetdance, Black Swan or Billy Elliot  What did they think of ballet after watching those films? Do they think people stereotype ballet? Ask the pupils what kind of strength they think you need to build up in order to be a dancer </p><p>Main activity 1  Whole class activity: Get them to do a warm up  Play the street dance music. After it is finished, ask the pupils to talk about what they think the song means. What is the artist trying to say? How does the music make them feel?  Teach them a short sequence, such as one of these: http://www.ehow.com/videos- on_7935_hip-hop-dance-moves-kids.html  Get them to practice the sequence to the music  Pair work: Now ask the pupils to perform their short sequence to the music, but this time they have to make it work as a partner dance.
