Students are instructed in hardware and software skills necessary to seek employment in networking computer systems. Topics include the OSI model, network topologies, networking standards, networking devices and networking media. Successful completion of this course provides the background to take the nationally recognized N+ certification exam created by the computing industry.</p><p>Objectives:</p><p>1. Familiarize the student with the components of a microcomputer, primarily focusing on the IBM™ clone commonly referred to as the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA).</p><p>2. Teach the student troubleshooting techniques involving configuration errors and component failures.</p><p>3. Teach the student to install new and replace defective components. </p><p>4. Understand the Computer System, associated Hardware & Software, The System Board, Drive Components, Electricity & Power Supplies, Viruses, Networking and the Internet. </p><p>1 Methods of Instruction:</p><p>1. Lecture and mediated lecture 2. Hands-on computer diagnosis and component installation. 3. Testing</p><p>Attendance and Test Makeup Policy:</p><p>Students are expected to attend every class. Please contact the instructor if you will not be able to attend. Each unexcused absence will be penalized. </p><p>Makeup exam Policy. Makeup exams will be at the discretion of the Instructor.
