<p> Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary Supported by Kilkenny Stores and Cork County & City Enterprise Boards.</p><p>The Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary is a dynamic and market focused business support opportunity for those in the gift, craft and design sector. The Bursary will promote and support businesses in gift, craft and design by:  12 months rent FREE workshop premises within the prestigious location of the “Shanagarry Design Centre” in East Cork;  Product Placement within the Kilkenny Stores Shanagarry retail shop for the months of October to December 2011;  Business Mentoring and training support from Cork County & City Enterprise Boards;  Opportunity to exhibit at Ireland’s leading craft and gift Trade Show, Showcase Ireland 2012; The aim of the Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary is to support and enhance the gift, craft and design SME business sector and raise awareness of craft in Cork by offering consumers the chance to see it, feel it, meet the maker in “Shanagarry Design Centre” and purchase Irish gifts. </p><p>The Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary is a business support initiative designed and partnered by Kilkenny Stores and Cork County & City Enterprise Boards. It is aimed at owner/managers of gift businesses, who are consumer lead and commercially focused, who wish to secure a prime footfall workshop location in Shanagarry and to enhance their sales, marketing and management skills.</p><p>RENT FREE WORKSHOP & PREMISES. Under the management of Ireland’s leading gift retailer, Kilkenny Stores, The Shanagarry Design Centre is one of East Cork’s newest retail locations and tourist attraction. Kilkenny Stores are Ireland's Largest Emporium for Irish Designed Products. Their philosophy is to offer customers a modern and contemporary interpretation based on the very best in Irish traditions. Kilkenny Stores have been associated with Ireland’s craft and design industry for over four decades. </p><p>The Shanagarry Design Centre is set in a stunning location with a beautiful costal backdrop. This 12,000 square foot premises, over 2 floors, offers visitors a unique shopping, culinary and crafts experience all under the one roof seven days a week. In its first 12 months over 100,000 people have visited the 1</p><p>Shanagarry Design Centre. Two flagship consumer experiences are already established on the upper floor of the Shanagarry Design Centre, Kilkenny Stores and The Artisan Café.</p><p>This bursary will offer a 12 months RENT FREE workshop unit of c.200 square feet with a possible 1,000 square feet of open space for retail, exhibitions and training classes to support the promotion and valued added opportunities for the successful applicant. The workshop premises is fully operational for a craft enterprises, e.g. wifi, electrical etc. Currently 4 craft SME work in the Shanagarry Design Centre, disciplines include Painting, Ceramics / Potter, Jewellery Maker and Card & Prints Maker.</p><p>RETAIL OPPORTUNITY The Kilkenny Store based within the Shanagarry Design Centre will place the successful applicants’ gift/craft work in their retail shop from October to Christmas. The successful applicants work will be showcased and sold to consumers in this prestigious retail shop during the busiest purchasing season, in the run up the Christmas sales. Retail feedback and product development will be provided by Kilkenny Stores retail buyers, industry experts and Cork County & City Enterprise Boards. </p><p>Working with Kilkenny Stores and other craft makers already located on-site will be instrumental to maximise promotional opportunities.</p><p>BUSINESS MENTORING & TRAINING SUPPORT. Cork County & City Enterprise Boards provide an extensive range of small business supports to the start-up and existing business for the gift, craft & design sector. Depending on the successful applicants sales and marketing needs, the Bursary will provide enterprise information, advice, training, mentoring, networking and in some cases financial assistance. This bursary will facilitate the successful applicant’s participation on Business Workshops, and the opportunity to exhibit at Showcase Ireland.</p><p>SELECTION PROCESS This bursary is open to all enterprises in the gift, craft and design sector. It is open to enterprises in the early set-up stages as well as established businesses. The coordination of The Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary will be project managed by Cork County & City Enterprise Boards in partnership with Kilkenny Stores. All applicants must partake in an independent selection process. </p><p>Applicants will be informed of the Selection Panels SHORTLIST within two weeks of the SUBMISSION date of Thursday September 22nd. The decision of the selection panel is final. Canvassing will disqualify and feedback from the selection process will not be available. </p><p>2</p><p>SHORTLISTED applicants will be asked for further business and product information before the final selection in made. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to visit the premises in The Shanagarry Design Centre and meet with members of the Selection Panel to discuss their ideas and plans for establishing and locating their business in The Shanagarry Design Centre in early October. Shortlisted applicants must liaise with The Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary Project Manager, Méabh Ring, during the selection process as to logistics and needs for the business initiative. </p><p>SELECTION CRITERIA All aspects of each individual submission will be considered by the selection panel, some of the criteria will include the below – but not exclusively:  Products must be of a high standard in design, quality, creativity and finish.  Ability to maximise product development and raise product awareness  Identify and develop growth opportunities and work in collaboration with neighbouring craft makers at the Design Centre.</p><p>SUBMISSION INFORMATION If you wish to apply for the Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary:  Fill in the form below;  The completed Application Form must be submitted by Thursday September 22 nd , 2011.  The Completed Application Form via hard copy can be mailed to South Cork Enterprise Board, attn: Méabh Ring, Shanagarry Design Centre Bursary, Unit 6A, South Ring Business Park, Kinsale Road, Cork.  Please include images – 5 of which must be titled and priced as per application details - no more than 10 images in total.
