<p>9/28/05</p><p>Our thanks to Facilities Planning and Plant Management for their quick action on the improvements to the Farris Drive path. The hard pack surface has been completely installed and thanks to timely cooperation from Atlantic Electric temporary lighting has been also been installed. These improvements will assist our community as we move into the fall season. </p><p>We need to continue to focus our attention on responsibility, both as young adults and as a community. Several incidents of over-consumption of alcohol and acts of senseless vandalism indicate there are a very few in our community who continue to exhibit irresponsible behavior. We look to all our students, especially our student leaders to support our efforts at promoting responsible behavior and not condoning the irresponsible actions of a few. We need the assistance of all our community in this effort.</p><p>Two of our police officers, Carlton Fernanders and Maria Parziale have been deployed to assist in the law enforcement effort in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina’s destruction. Thanks to the support of President Sattkamp and his commitment to assist our fellow Americans in the Gulf area, they volunteered to join other New Jersey Law Enforcement personnel under the command of the New Jersey State Police, to assist the New Orleans Police Department whose assets were overwhelmed by the events of the hurricane. We ask you keep them in your thoughts during their 2 week deployment.</p><p>We hope everyone is going to join us for the upcoming Homecoming Weekend festivities. Many excellent activities have been planned around several sporting events and a lot of people have put an extraordinary effort into this weekend. We hope to see you all there.</p><p>Please adhere to posted signage and stay out of construction areas at all times. There are fences around the construction areas to keep us not, not to keep the construction workers in!</p><p>TIP OF THE WEEK: Don’t allow yourself to become a victim of an opportunistic criminal. Many crimes are committed by an individual who is presented an easy opportunity to commit that crime. Don’t make yourself that victim: lock your car, apartment, or room; don’t leave valuables in sight of others; walk in lighted areas or call for an escort; don’t give out your personal information (social security number, date of birth, home address, etc.) and become a victim of identity theft; be careful of internet/email scams; if it sounds too good of a deal to be true, it may be a scam.
