<p> July 28, 2006</p><p>SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS</p><p>The following is a brief summary of the new sub-clauses in the Standard for Information Technology Equipment - Safety - Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1, which have a future Effective Date of July 13, 2007 and the action that may be required to determine compliance.</p><p>Annex/Sub-clauses General Subject and Comment Annex NAF.1.2.13.15, A HOUSEHOLD/HOME OFFICE DOCUMENT SHREDDER is defined as a Document Shredder, product with a plug configuration associated with PLUGGABLE EQUIPMENT Household/Home TYPE A designed to shred paper or other forms of media, including but not Office, Definition limited to digital video disks, compact disks, flash memory, magnetic strip cards, or magnetic disks, as instructed by the manufacturer. The markings are required to be permanent, comprehensible and easily discernible on the equipment when ready for use. Compliance is checked by inspection. Annex NAF.2.8.3, Any accessible SAFETY INTERLOCK that can be operated by means of the Inadvertent reaction articulated accessibility probe (figure NAF.1) is considered likely to cause inadvertent reactivation of the hazard. </p><p>Compliance is checked by inspection and, where necessary, by a test with the articulated accessibility probe (figure NAF.1). The probe/wedge is not permitted to contact hazardous moving parts, including shredding rollers/mechanisms.
