BIO|ANALOGICS Technical Support

HMS1000: How to upgrade your HMS1000 installation

Reviewed: May 8, 2018

Before you upgrade your installed version of Health Management System for Windows (HMS1000), collect all disks from the previously installed version and set them aside. To avoid any possible version conflicts between the HMS System Manager and modules, install only the most current version of each.

During the upgrade, all preexisting data files will be detected and preserved by the setup program. As a precaution, however, it is always a good idea to have a current backup copy of your data. The Data Backup feature in HMS1000 is accessed through the System menu.

Program Installation

 Start Windows.

 Place System Manager Disk 1 into the disk drive.

. In Windows 3.1, open Program Manager, select File and choose Run.

. In Windows 95, Click on the Start button and choose Run.

 In the Command line text box, type A:Setup (or B:Setup depending on your system configuration) and press the Enter key.

The welcome screen will now appear. You can select either an Express Setup, which will automatically complete the installation or a Custom setup which will require you to manually configure your system. DO NOT SELECT THE CUSTOM OPTION UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED COMPUTER USER.

The next screen will allow you the option to enter your center name and address in addition to configuring the program, personnel and customer information. The program name will be used in the printout (e.g. The Wellness Center). The personnel name will be used to describe the provider (e.g. your physician recommends that). The client/patient name will be used to describe the person being tested e.g. the patient report. These settings may be changed later once the program is installed.

The system will now copy all of the files from Disk 1 to the computer. Once completed, you will be prompted to insert Disk 2 and press Enter. When the System Manager has been completely installed, you will be asked to restart the computer now or wait until later. It is recommended that you choose to restart your computer at this time.

Installing the system modules

After the HMS1000 System Manger is installed and your computer is restarted, you will be prompted to install any modules you have purchased. To install the first module, insert the Disk 1 of the module into the disk drive and click the Next button. You will be asked to choose the source disk drive (A: or B:). Once you have entered the correct drive letter, click the Next to begin the installation. When the installation is complete you will be asked if you have more modules to install. You may load as many modules as you have at this time.

If you wish to load a module at another time, choose Module from the system menu at the top of the screen and select Install New Module.

(503) 626-8000  toll-free (800) 327-7953  fax (503) 641-4031 http://www.bioanalogics.com
