<p>Lesson Plan Title: Parts of Speech</p><p>Concept/Topic to Teach: Parts of Speech</p><p>Standards Addressed: This should come from the Alabama Course of Study available at http://alex.state.al.us/</p><p>Specific Objectives: The students will know all of the parts of speech and be able to label them in a sentence. The students will also be able to form sentences using a word and its part of speech. </p><p>Required Materials: Promethean Board Promethean Flip Chart Computers with internet access Teacher Tube Video Requirements Handout</p><p>Anticipatory Set (Lead-In): The teacher will have the students complete an entrance card. The students will use an index card to write a part of speech, its definition, and use it in a sentence correctly. The teacher will take these up and use them as a pre assessment. The teacher will show the students a video called Crank Dat Parts of Speech Rap from www.teachertube.com. </p><p>Step-By-Step Procedures for Teaching the Lesson: The teacher will use a promethean flipchart from www.prometheanplanet.com. The teachers will orally teacher nouns, pronouns, adjective, adverbs, prepositions, prepositional phrases, verbs, and interjections. The teacher will also use the interactive activities and questions on the chart to assess the students. </p><p>Guided Practice/Monitoring: The teacher will display the requirements for the activity and an example concept map on the board using the promethean. The teacher will then orally review what is expected with the students and have them record it on a piece of paper. The teacher will pull up the software and review with the students on how to use it. The teacher will give the students 15 minutes to gather their ideas and record them on paper. The teacher will then have a few students use the computer to create their concept map. </p><p>Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): The teacher will have some of the students share their concept maps using the promethean. The teacher will have the students complete and exit card on the same part of speech that was done at the beginning of the lesson. </p><p>Assessment Based on Objectives:  The teacher will assess the students on the completion on their concept map. The teacher will assess them on all the requirements of the map. </p><p>Adaptations (For Students With Special Needs): Shamorie is an ADHD students and it will be required that he complete the map with a partner to ensure all requirements are met. </p><p>Extensions (For Advanced Students): The teacher will have the advanced students write a narrative story and label all the parts of speech. </p><p>Possible Connections to Other Subjects: </p><p>Reflection: This was an awesome lesson. I loved the lesson and could really tell that my students learned how to adequately use the technology. It was great for them to be able to make a product that they could print out and use for notes in their notebook. I would keep this lesson the same if I were to do it again. I do wish that I had more computers in my classroom so that the activity could be completed faster. </p>
