<p>Sunview PTA Minutes November 13, 2013 6:52pm</p><p>Inspriation - Becca Rogiers President’s Report - Gretchen Bailey • Ohio PTA • House bill allows a staff member to carry a concealed weapon without the knowledge of other staff members - please contact representative if you would like to get involved to have this changed • Sunview is to be recognized for Best Practices for Summer Playdates • Benchmark testing will be done before conferences • PTA will provide a light dinner for teachers on conference night instead of the snack bags we have done in the past Teacher’s Report - Karen Darnell Principal’s Report - Gretchen Bailey • Parents please talk to your children about the importance of benchmark testing • Notes went home about having appropriate clothing for weather and keeping students home when sick Treasurer’s Report - Michelle Allen Recording Secretary - Barbie Tumbry • Will approve Oct. minutes next month Membership - Lesa Droe • we are up to 103 members Fundraising - Christina Hidek • Pickup is Thurs. Nov. 21st, 4-8pm • Numbers were lower than we wanted so there will be a Mixed Bags fundraiser in Spring • Fall fundraiser brought in $6,000 Family Events - Amanda Barrett • Special Person’s Breadfast 8:00-8:30am; Nov. 19th A-L & Nov. 21st M-Z • need volunteers @ 7:45am both days for set-up • Dec. event possibly making ornaments or other craft for a local nursing home Communication - Gretchen Bates • 421 signed up for newsletters • Facebook has 114 likes Star Reader - Gretchen Bates • Star REader shirts arrived • 100% participation for calendars Corresponding Secretary - Karen Pattie • Erin Pfenning will be taking over this position Historian • Melissa Jamison will be filling this position Council Delegate - Gretchen Bailey • Dr. Motley spoke about testing • reports should show student progress • challenges district faces based on how district report card is composed • District is considering changing start times for next school year • Feb. 20th OH PTA Lifetime Award • Fall play at Brush Nov. 15th & 16th “You Can’t Take it With You” • Yearbook checks for Brush yearbook are due • Reflections fees due Dec. 3rd • Brown & Gold - March 15th at John Carroll Annex Corporate Promotions - Gretchen Bailey • $758 earned from Box Tops • Erwin’s class 1st - 679 won a pizza party • Pompeani’s class 2nd - 484 extra recess • Ambrose’s class 3rd - 428 funny clothes day • Zawacki’s class honorable mention - 424 Reflection’s - Gretchen Bailey • Thurs. 21st will be art night • Projects are due Dec. 2nd • Reception is Dec. 6th in the Brush library Star Helpers - Gretchen Bailey • 21 kids helped with the Halloween Meals on Wheels craft • Jan 27th Meals on Wheels Valentine’s event • March 3rd Food drive event • April 22nd Earth day, Brainard Park clean-up • April 28th Senior bag event 3rd Grade - Christina Hidek • Looking for different catering options for the 3rd grade dinner • Walk-a-thon made $1,923 - some donations are still coming in Yearbook - Lesa Droe • Candid photo day Jan. 16th • 3rd grade yearbook club began last Thurs. • they will get to do a Reflections photo • 2nd grade yearbook club starts tomorrow Nov. 14th New Business • Staff Grant deadline has past • Founder’s Day nominations need to be made • Carnival - we need to start planning and set up chairs • donations from Half Price Books and Cleveland Browns • chairs needed for Games & Prizes; Kitchen; Ticket sales; Volunteers • date is Feb. 15th at Brush gym • have samples for new door locks</p><p>8:25pm</p>
