ACTIVITIES Current research projects are “Optical Pressure Sensor” and “Micro Channels for Chip Cooling”.

“ Optical Pressure Sensor” includes fabrication of square membranes on a silicon wafer by wet chemical etching in the Nano Fabrication facility then optically interrogating the vibrating membranes and registering the change in intensity due to the applied pressure. Pressure can also be recorded by interferometery of the reflected light by forming a cavity between the fiber end and the membrane. Finally the pressure sensors will be calibrated and characterized.

The idea behind “Micro Channels for Cooling” is to provide on chip cooling of electronic circuits by fabricating small channels on the back of the chip and passing coolant through it. This project is collaboration between ARRI and UTA Mechanical Engineering Department.

GRADUATE Electronic Materials Infrared Detectors COURSES Introduction to MEMS Fundamentals of MEMS Electronic Packaging Finite Element Analysis Silicon IC Fabrication Fiber Optics RF Circuit design Wireless Communication Neural Networks Digital Signal Processing VHDL Data Communications Fundamentals of Telecom.  ANSYS simulation of a MICROSCOPIC GRIPPER.
