<p> Board Update</p><p>Board Members Volume 33, No. 14 David Ambrose, President Aaron Close, Vice President Pete Gordon Board Meeting John Rowland January 3, 2017 Laura Smith</p><p>The Morgan County Board of Education met in a regular session on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at the Board of Education Office located at 247 Harrison Avenue, Berkeley Springs, WV. </p><p>David Ambrose, President presided. Aaron Close, Pete Gordon, Laura Smith, and John Rowland, Members, and David Banks, Superintendent, were present.</p><p>Present were: Administrators – Kristen Tuttle, Assistant Superintendent; Ann Bell, Treasurer. Ryan Fincham, Haden Fincham, Raiynette Mock, Kalee Sherrard, Paul Mock, Bridget Christie, Emma Christie, Robert Osborne, Paula Osborne, Otice Carder, Trevor Nelson, Dalas Carder, Jeanette Sweitzer and Bailey Verkouteran. Media – Kate Evans, Morgan Messenger.</p><p>I. Call to Order</p><p>President Ambrose called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.</p><p>II. Pledge of Allegiance</p><p>President Ambrose led those present in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.</p><p>III. Roll Call </p><p>All board of education members were present.</p><p>IV. Superintendent</p><p>Board Update – January 3, 2017 Page 1 NOTE: Superintendent Banks noted the passing of retired teacher Lyne Keenan. NOTE: Superintendent Banks stated the RFP will proceed with the one company and that the ads for the RFQ’s will be posted soon. NOTE: Superintendent Banks and Mrs. Tuttle explained the Alternative Certification Program.</p><p>VII. Public Comments: NONE</p><p>VIII. Consent Agenda (Action) The superintendent recommends approval of the following consent actions as presented:</p><p>A. Minutes of December 20, 2016 Regular Meeting B. Payment of Bills C. Budget Adjustments (if necessary) D. Volunteers</p><p>The board approved the Consent Agenda.</p><p>IX. Executive Session</p><p>A motion was made by Mr. Rowland, seconded by Mrs. Smith, and unanimously passed by those present to enter into executive session pursuant to West Virginia Code 6-9A-4(3) to discuss personnel matters. The Board entered into executive session at 7:49 p.m. President Ambrose reconvened the meeting to open session at 8:05 p.m. No action was taken at this time.</p><p>X. Personnel</p><p>The superintendent recommends approval of the following personnel actions as presented: A. Professional Personnel</p><p> Employment - Change of Status (Alternative Certification Program) 1. Kim Mason, Long Term Substitute Teacher – Intellectually Disabled (Sev./Prof.), Autism, Berkeley Springs High School, to Teacher – Intellectually Disabled (Sev./Prof.), Autism, Berkeley Springs High School, effective beginning January 17, 2017.(017-146)</p><p>B. Service Personnel</p><p> Resignation 1. Russell Nolan, Bus Operator, Transportation, effective at the end of the day on December 28, 2016.</p><p> Employment 1. Russell Nolan, Substitute Bus Operator, County, effective beginning January 9, 2017.</p><p> Unpaid Leave of Absence 1. Tammy Painter, School Bus Supervisor, Transportation, beginning January 23, 2017, and ending March 23, 2017, due to medical reasons. 2. Extend Leave of Absence for Melissa Keefer, Secretary, Warm Springs Middle School, from January 9, 2017, through January 13, 2017, due to medical reasons.</p><p>Board Update – January 3, 2017 Page 2 C.
