Composting Efforts by Sustainable Sheboygan Task Force

Composting efforts by Sustainable Sheboygan Task Force

The Sustainable Sheboygan Task Force has been promoting composting efforts during the last 18 months. More than 230 people saw composting presentations last summer in Fountain Park. Citizens not able to compost are encouraged to use their garbage disposals for their kitchen waste instead of tossing it in the garbage can. Garbage disposal waste helps Sheboygan’s wastewater treatment plant process waste water because organic matter (plant scraps, outdated and/or old food) contains helpful bacteria for waste digestion. Keeping this organic matter out of your garbage also saves on the city’s landfill fees. For information on composting, please visit www.sustainsheboygan.com
