In particular: NO to cuts in the federal education budget, as proposed by President Trump and the U.S. House. These cuts would force program cuts in our local schools; NO to vouchers, or any type of tax credit program that would siphon public dollars from our schools and send them to private schools; NO to the expansion of unaccountable charter schools. Instead, we are calling on our state and federal government to fully invest in our public schools, creating schools in our neighborhoods that have expansive courses and enrichment offerings, culturally relevant curriculum, experienced teachers, resources and technology, and that are welcoming and safe learning communities for students and educators alike.
