<p>Literature Notebook Format Instructions </p><p>Basic Requirements - Clearly label all parts - Date each assignment and organize chronologically - Complete each assignment in this order: o (1) Notes on informational readings (bios, historical/contextual information, etc.) o (2) Summaries for literary readings (excerpts, short stories, letters, articles, poems, essays, etc.) o (3) Definitions and answers to questions from book and/or reading guide - NOTE: Titles of large works are Underlined, titles of small works are in “Quotes” o Large= book, excerpt from book, vignette, play, magazine, journal, newspaper, etc. o Small= short story, article, poem, letter, etc. </p><p>Sample Assignment: </p><p>LARGER READINGS SMALLER READINGS R 27-Aug LOL 90 (Bradford Bio) (Notes) LOL 81-87 Excerpts from Of Plymouth Plantation (Summary) LOL 91-92 “Women and Children First: The Mayflower Pilgrims” (Summary) Define bias; Answer questions 2-4 in the margin on pp 91,92.</p><p>Sample Format: </p><p>August 27, 20__ William Bradford (1590-1657) - 30 when arrived in America on Mayflower - Part of Separatist religious group since age 12 - Wife drowned (possible suicide) - Elected governor in 1621 - Wrote Of Plymouth Plantation as history of settlement</p><p>Title: Excerpts from Of Plymouth Plantation Author: William Bradford Date: Written-1630, Published 1856 Summary: Bradford gives firsthand account of Pilgrims’ early days in America.
