He dreamed of being a baseball player. When he grew up, he came to America to play baseball. He joined a team called the Pittsburgh Pirates. Roberto was the first Latin American baseball player to reach 3,000 hits. This Hispanic athlete became famous for being a great player. </p><p>Roberto Clemente was proud of being Puerto Rican. He was a father of three boys. He believed in helping people. One day, there was an earthquake in the country of Nicaragua. He decided to travel there on an airplane to take food, medicine and clothing to the Nicaraguan people. But the plane had an accident and he did not survive. Today, he is remembered for being a very good athlete and a man who helped others. Roberto Clemente is one of the great Latin American baseball players in the Baseball Hall of Fame. </p><p>2</p>
