New Application-Focused Precision Measurement Website for Engineers

Ref. ME14 30th March 2006

New ‘application-focused’ precision measurement website for engineers

The most comprehensive website for precision sensing and measurement solutions Micro-Epsilon, manufacturer of precision sensing and measurement solutions, has re-launched its website (www.micro-epsilon.co.uk) with a host of new functionality and technical information, plus a new application-focused structure that makes it easier for engineers to locate the sensor or measurement solution they require. The website is targeted at design engineers, production engineers, quality and inspection engineers, scientists, lab technicians and plant/maintenance engineers.

The site is now ‘application-led’ rather than ‘product-led’. Rather than placing lists of different sensor products in front of engineers, the new site encourages users to look for solutions to their specific application problem.

The applications area of the site contains sensor systems for bending, concentricity, diameter, dimension, displacement, positioning, oscillation, gap, revolution, stroke and thickness measurement. Actual examples of applications in each of these areas is provided, along with the relevant technical data sheet and application diagrams.

1 Details of specific customer applications are provided on the site. Examples include monitoring the vacuum integrity of cans, jars and bottles; turbocharger speed sensing; monitoring of the commutators in electric motors; thickness measurement of yarn, rubber film, foils and battery separators; flatness measurement in rolling mills; oil film thickness measurement in internal combustion engines; calibrating robot axes; measuring clutch wear in racing cars; active damping of liquid-cooled centrifuges; lift height measurement in forklift trucks; monitoring the clamping of tools; and the measurement of axial deformation of brake disc friction rings.

- ENDS -

Note to Editors: Micro-Epsilon (www.micro-epsilon.co.uk) is a major global manufacturer of sensors, headquartered in Germany. The company’s range of sensors measure everything from displacement to distance, position, vibration, dimensions and thickness, using both contact and non-contact measurement techniques. These techniques include inductive, differential transformer, eddy-current, capacitive, laser-optical, potentiometric and draw- wire principles.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, Micro-Epsilon isn’t just a sensor manufacturer. The company is highly innovative and understands the importance of providing complete solutions and support services for its customers. The firm is renowned for its expertise in consulting, development and application of industrial sensors to complex, customer-specific solutions for measurement, inspection and automation. The focus is on selling technical advantage to its clients.

For more information or high resolution images, please contact: ENQUIRIES Chris Jones Tel (Office): 0151 482 5545 Managing Director Tel (Mobile): 07789 484503

2 Micro-Epsilon UK Ltd e-mail: [email protected] DBH House, 105 Boundary Lane Website: www.micro-epsilon.co.uk Liverpool L5 9YJ

3
