<p> Georgia Medical Monitoring Project</p><p>Provider Advisory Board (PAB)</p><p>The goal of the PAB is to involve HIV care providers in the development and implementation of this project so that MMP expands facility participation. PAB members are experienced HIV care providers who represent and articulate needs of small, medium, large, urban, and rural HIV care facilities. </p><p>Purpose of the PAB:</p><p> Foster collaborations between MMP investigators and HIV care providers  Provide a forum to discuss issues regarding the development and implementation of MMP  Provide input on MMP data collection instruments  Advise MMP investigators about HIV care and treatment  Enhance MMP investigators’ understanding of the impact of MMP on those infected with HIV and HIV care provider communities  Guide dissemination of information about MMP in the medical community</p><p>Role of PAB Members:</p><p> Attend an annual national meeting to discuss the progress of MMP and provide input on the project  Address barriers and concerns with facility recruitment and advise MMP investigators on strategies to circumvent these barriers  Provide input on the patient questionnaire and MRA forms  Serve as a local representative or resource for MMP and answer questions from providers and the medical community  Consult with MMP investigators about educational materials (brochures, newsletters, presentations) and services for the medical community to improve facility participation  Educate providers about MMP and encourage their participation  Assist state/local health departments in the recruitment of selected facilities in their local area by contacting providers who do not initially agree to participate  Correspond regularly with the local MMP investigators to discuss issues surrounding facility recruitment, provide feedback regarding interactions with community HIV care providers, and address obstacles to provider participation  Disseminate information about MMP at local HIV society meetings, grand rounds at a medical center, pre-existing CME seminars, and for local newsletters  Collaborate with medical societies to increase awareness of MMP within the medical community  Participate in bi-annual conference calls with other PAB members</p><p>Choosing a PAB Member MMP project area staff are responsible for choosing a PAB member to represent their jurisdiction at the national level. CDC recommends that the PAB member be an individual who has extensive knowledge of HIV medical care, involvement with the community of HIV providers in the jurisdiction, and an understanding of the concerns of both infected and affected people living in the local community. The PAB member should have a good understanding of the key stakeholders within the jurisdiction, as well as an enthusiasm for MMP and a willingness to commit time to the project.</p>
