January 12th 1793, James Gillray, British Caricaturist late 18th Century

This political cartoon from the late 18th century satirically depicts the French Revolution, “in the corner of the print, French sansculottes are shown despoiling an area of Europe: Holland, Savoy, Germany & Prussia, and Italy. In the centre, Gillray depicts Sheridan (left) and Fox (right) forcibly cramming small loaves of bread marked 'Liberty', which are attached to the points of their daggers, into the mouth of John Bull. Both men are shown as ragged sansculottes - bare-legged and wearing bonnets rouges - and they pick the pockets of Bull while they feed him.” Gillray was depicting how in 1793 the Revolutionary regime stated that it was going to export the French Revolution’s ideals of liberty, fraternity, equality, thus citing revolutions in Europe. - - - I needed to shrink the font to enlarge the image, notice how I wrote out what was on the rock at the bottom of the image, incase it is not legible, plus what is there may not be the title of the image or photo, also by using well developed analysis and quote one could see what the five areas mean - - - depending on the image you may not need this much analysis, you will be the judge of that

Source: Richard Brinslay’s website dedicated to Gillray on Sheridan http://people.pwf.cam.ac.uk/dft21/Home.htm - - - this citation would be in proper MLA format and please remove hyperlinks - - - I needed to shrink the font here as well
