<p>SERIAL PROTOCOL</p><p>This document describes how to communicate with a Polk XRt12 XM Tuner via the serial port.</p><p>Rear Serial Port Pinout for the Polk XRt12 XM Tuner Purpose PIN PURPOSE DB9 - Male 1 Not Used 2 Transmit 3 Receive 4 Not Used 5 Ground 6 Not Used</p><p>7 Not Used 8 Not Used 9 Not Used</p><p>Rear Serial Port Settings for the Polk XRt12 XM Tuner Parameter Value PARAMETER VALUE Baud 9600 Data Bits 8 Stop Bits 1 Parity None Flow Control None</p><p>For connection to the Xantech MRC-88</p><p>Connection to the rear serial port requires a female to male standard straight through serial cable (no null modem required). It is recommended that the RS-232 cable be 25 feet or less.</p><p>For connection to the SmartPAD LCD touch panel (NOTE: Requires the RS422232 module with 781RG power supply)</p><p>Connection to the rear serial port requires a female to female NULL MODEM serial cable. It is recommended that the RS-232 cable be 25 feet or less.</p><p>For connection to the Xantech RS2321X8 Serial Router</p><p>Connection to the RS232 serial ports requires a female to male standard straight through serial cable (no null modem required). Connection to the RS422 serial ports requires the RS422232 module with 781RG power supply and a female to female NULL MODEM serial cable. It is recommended that the RS-232 cable be 25 feet or less. Programming the Polk XRt12 XM Tuner</p><p>In the Dragon Drop software you will need to build some commands by sending 2 of the RS-232 commands in the following order:</p><p>Preset Select followed by Number XX Category Right followed by Number XX Category Left followed by Number XX Select Up followed by Number XX Select Down followed by Number XX</p><p>Note this only applies to the five commands listed above. All other commands only need a single command including the channel select commands.</p><p>For example to select Preset Number 18 you would send:</p><p>Preset Select Number 18</p><p>The above command represents a single command being sent to the Polk XRt12 XM Tuner. Here is the example above in Dragon Drop-IR MRC software:</p>
