This is an oportunity to attract students into our programs. A new KIA plant is causing a lot of change at West Georgia Tech. There is a lot of political muscel behaind the new KIA plant. This is a good oportunity for DTAE and WGT to build a partnership that will benefit all. We predict a lot of economic growth for everyone due to relationships like this one. It will require some sharp negociatging.

CONCLUSIONS Manufacturing is not dead, yet. There are still many good paying jobs available in manufacturing. Also, new companies are looking to base in Georgia.

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE

http://www.dtae.org/teched/standards/templates.html Page 1 of 4

General meeting, Changes [1 HOUJR CHRIS ESTES DISCUSSION Program revisions are to take place once every three years. We can take recommendations by our advisory committees and bring to the IFCC. Any needed changes can then be recorded and included during program revision.

CONCLUSIONS If we want to make a program change we will have to have all the paper work done and ready to submit whern we are given the opportunity. Advisory committees are the key.

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE

[General Meeting, TCC Probes [TIME ALLOTTED] CHRIS ESTES DISCUSSION All of the TCC Probes for the IST program have been acepted and most are presently posted as state standards. We reviewed the Probes as accepted and let everyone know where to go on the web to view this information.

CONCLUSIONS Some misstakes were found. They were called to the attention of the powers that be but the VPs did not want to change them. We will resubmit when during the next revision.

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE

[General Meeting, Admission testing [TIME ALLOTTED] [CHRIS ESTES DISCUSSION Admission testing is not required on the new standard TCCs. This can be very helpful to attract students who are experienced and have been working in the field.

CONCLUSIONS Be careful about students having the general education skills to do the work. Use good judgement!

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE

http://www.dtae.org/teched/standards/templates.html Page 2 of 4

genreal meeting, Dual and joint enrollment [TIME ALLOTTED] CHRIS ESTES DISCUSSION Industrial Electrician is a good TCC to use with Joint and Dual enrollment

CONCLUSIONS Dual and joint enrollment are good opportunities to increase our numbers. Enroll high schoold studnts into fundamental TCCs. Industrial Systems Technician TCC and Industrial Electrician TCC would be two beginning TCCs to enroll high school students into. Many Technical Colleges have articulation agreenemts with their area high schools covering the courses in these two TCCs.

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE

[general meeting, aprentice and intern [TIME ALLOTTED] CHRIS ESTES DISCUSSION Since we do not have a specific course for an appretice or intern program in the IST Program and co-op programs will have to be handled locally. One option is to use DIS 150 and set it up to cover your apprentce or intern program.

CONCLUSIONS We may neet a course to cover intern and apprentice programs. Just finding students jobs before they graduate has worked quite well. They must have basic skills or they will not be able to keep the job. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE

COMMENTS / Next meeting will be held on February 1, 2008 in Macon at Central Georgia Technical College.
