<p> Casio CFX – 9850GB Graphing – Rectangular Coordinates Paul Vaz</p><p>1. GRAPH Mode: On the main menu, select the GRAPH icon to enter the GRAPH Mode</p><p>2. View Window (V-Window)</p><p>Press: SHIFT F3 (to display the view window)</p><p>Use the view window to specify the range of x-values, y-values, and the spacing between the increments on each axis. After specifying the range of values, press EXIT to return to GRAPH Mode.</p><p>3. Graph Function Operations a) Specify Graph Type: Press: F3 followed by F1 to select Y= type; b) Store a rectangular coordinate function: Example: To store the expression x3  5x 2  6x  2 in memory are Y1 press</p><p>X, ,T ^ 3 + 5 X, ,T x 2 + 6 X, ,T + 2 EXE</p><p>The screen will display</p><p> c) To draw the graph: Press EXE or F6</p><p>The screen will display 4. To edit the function in Y1. Highlight the function, then press the cursor key ▷ . This will display a cursor at the beginning of the equation. You are now in a position to edit the equation. After editing, press EXE to store the new equation. OTHER FEATURES 5. Trace. With trace, you can move a flashing pointer along a graph with cursor keys and obtain readouts of coordinates at each point on the graph. To use the trace feature press F1 6. Zoom. To activate the zoom feature press F2 to display the Zoom Menu. To view additional zoom features press F6. We illustrate two features from the Zoom Menu: a) Box Zoom. To use the box zoom feature press F1. Use the cursor keys to move the red pointer on the screen to the location of one corner of the box you want to draw. Then press EXE. Now use the cursor keys to move the red pointer to the location of the corner that is diagonally across from the first corner. See below.</p><p>Press EXE to zoom into the box, and the screen will display</p><p> b) Factor Zoom. To use the factor zoom feature press F2. Use the cursor keys to move the red pointer on the screen to the location that you want to be the center of the new display. Press F2 once more. This will display the factor specification screen. If you choose the zoom factor to be 6(say) on the x-axis and 8(say) on the y-axis, press 6 EXE 8 EXE EXIT F3 The screen will display</p>
