<p> Minutes of the Management Committee</p><p>Meeting of Swale Seniors at Swale CVS</p><p>1.00pm on Thursday 9th July 2015</p><p>Present: Chris White (CW), Dorothy Newlove (DN), Jean Spain (JS), David Spurling (DS), Victor Wise (VW), Eileen Holden (EH), Brian Lewis (BL), John Greenhill (JG), Bernie Smith (BS), Joyce Foy (JF), Maria Cardoso (minute taker)</p><p>1. Chair’s Welcome and Apologies: Apologies: Julia Watling</p><p>2. Minutes of the meeting held on 4th June 2015</p><p>Agreed as a true record.</p><p>3. Matters Arising</p><p>The Publicity group meeting put forward to idea of the Publicity Banner but it was thought that Bryan Pringle may know where the original one was. MC to ask BP but if it is not found it was voted that a new banner be produced. A new leaflet will be produced.</p><p>CW contacted Bill Ronan to enquire as to who to contact with regards the regeneration but as yet to receive a reply. CW to chase as Peter Raine is now leaving the post</p><p>CW is awaiting a reply to her letter regarding parking on pavements. However JG has produced a letter and it was agreed that it would be sent to Gordon Henderson.</p><p>CW is awaiting a reply to her letter with regards paying car parking by mobile phone.</p><p>BS would like to know if the parking issue will be raised not only with SBC but also KCC and the private parking firms.</p><p>DN gave thanks to those who are now helping with relevant tasks for the group</p><p>Price to be checked for the Church Hall located behind the Alexander Centre</p><p>It was agreed that a Questionnaire to be sent out Monday to all members along with the Newsletter asking for members to suggest other areas of focus.</p><p>It was re-iterated that the next and only other British Legion Wreath would be the ‘end of War’ in 2017.</p><p>BW re-iterated that the Doctors Surgery on 31 Hollybank Hill has now moved its service to the Memorial Hospital. JG also stated that this would mean other services run from those premises will now also cease including the Paula Carr Diabetes Trust which will now be moving to Sheppey Hospital. This does not affect Paula Carr at any other location. It was confirmed that the Pensions representative is all arranged for Thursday 23rd July.</p><p>DN stated that there seems to be a problem with prescriptions in Boots in the High Street, JS to follow up.</p><p>Hi-Kent will cease its Hearing Aid aftercare service at the Memorial in August, this could also affect the service in Age UK Sittingbourne</p><p>4. Financial Report</p><p>A finance statement was issued at the meeting, with no further transactions since the last meeting. </p><p>5. Transport Issues</p><p>Parking in the High Street, parking via Mobile Phone and the Pavements concerns have all be actioned and await replies from the various agencies.</p><p>DS has stated that the ‘real-time’ boards at the bus stop behind the Forum are not easy to see and are often wrong.</p><p>DS states that the pedestrian crossing on St Michaels Road is not allowing long enough for some people to cross.</p><p>DS states that the bus stop outside Morrison’s advertises the wrong bus</p><p>DS would like to be able to add his ‘Impact of Transport in Swale’ findings to the SSF website in a bid to make the town more user friendly. He would be happy to update as and when necessary. All those present in this meeting agreed that for DS to do that and JS has requested the committee to see a hard-copy prior to upload.</p><p>6. AOB</p><p>EH has been in contact with the Steering committee of the Living in Safety event who has said this annual event will be held at the Methodist Church Hall in Sittingbourne on Friday 6th November 10am – 1pm. It was agreed SSF should have a stall at the event and volunteers will be needed on the day. DG volunteered her time and will confirm nearer the time.</p><p>DG offered to find out who is the Swale Borough Council Champion for older people.</p><p>BS suggested a legal expert for the September meeting to talk about Wills, Family Planning Trusts, Power of Attorney, etc. (if the Harbour Master is not available, the lawyer can attend the September meeting) The committee agreed that more forward planning was needed regards the meetings and DG suggested that annual arrangements should be made. The committee thought that this would be too long term and 6 months was decided.</p><p>JG has offered to take on a ‘co-ordinator’ in the committee and dedicate some time to help. With this in mind, he has requested that his costs be covered (eg, phone, travel, etc) which would push the group forward. JS and CW suggests that this role would enable new issues to be visited rather than go over older ones. BS proposed that this would be a 6 month trial and it was agreed by all.</p><p>JG would like to ensure all new members receive and introductory letter and will put one together.</p><p>JS has asked that any future back-to-back meetings allow for a half hour comfort break in between.</p><p>Next Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday 20th August 2015 </p><p>10.00am – 12.00pm</p><p>Thursday 23rd July – Alexander Centre, Faversham 10.30pm – 12.30pm with Speaker regarding Pensions and Benefits</p><p>Thursday 17th September – Castle Connections, Queenborough 10.30pm – 12.30pm Speaker to be confirmed</p>
