Verses of the Genesis 24:1-67 lesson References The Bible, above verses, http://divine-journal.blogspot.ca/2007/08/bride-for-isaac.html illustration None tool Psalm of the N/A week Personal My dear father in heaven, thank you so much for all your choices in my life, the blessings or material blessings I had meditation and those I did not have. Thank you for leading me to You by your Holy Spirit, like Abraham’s servant led Rebekah to Isaac; help me to stay there and not stray, and if I stray please bring me back; you know I am weak…. Introduction Prepare the kids to read the Bible properly. How do we know what God’s choice is? What happens if we choose something else other than God’s choice? So I don’t have free will? Lesson Make every kid read the Bible verses above, dividing the lines read as equally as possible, noting the following as we go along:

[1] When Abraham chose his son’s wife, he chose it from the people that knew God, not from the ladies in the place where he was living (remember he was in a strange land with people that did not know nor love God). Nowadays, the parents don’t choose their child’s husband or wife (Abraham was a special case), but it still goes to show that when choosing any relationship, from friendship to marriage in 10-15 years, it has to be with someone who knows and loves God, truly, because very simply all these relationships should lead to heaven; any relationship that doesn’t shouldn’t be there in the first place. In Isaac’s case, his marriage path came from his father by God. Let’s read on…

[2] The servant’s prayer. It’s beautiful in that it asks for God’s guidance before embarking on something this big (like finding Isaac’s wife), something we should all do. This is because for Abraham and his servant, God was always present in front of them and they loved Him, and that’s why they were constantly in contact with him regarding everything in their lives, asking for guidance and blessings.

[3] Rebekah was pretty brave in that she ventured into the desert for weeks or months until she reached Isaac, whom she did not know, with a man (Abraham’s servant) she also did not know. I guess Abraham was hoping that Isaac’s bride would be like Sara was with him-trusting him and being ready to travel always. You see how God’s choices are perfect? Conclusion God is the all-powerful loving God, and He knows our needs before we even ask for them (Matthew 6:33).That is why we should ask and pray again and again all our lives, and try our hardest all our lives to grow in our prayers and communion and repentance and confession. Everything else will be given in good time, in the time God wants. That does not mean that you don’t do your part. On the contrary, study, work, excel, choose your friends, have a social life, either get married or be a monk, do whatever you want, but be sure to be led by God in all this. Do what Abraham’s servant did – talk to God and pray from your heart to Him; take the opinion of someone you’ve heard God’s personal message to you before; your priest, servant, parents, etc. before deciding. Before everything and anything, put your relationship with God in the forefront.

Lesson [1] Do we ask for God’s guidance? From where? application [2] Do we wait for God’s Hand in our issues/problems/next steps? Are we patient?

[3] As usual, do we usually read the Bible? How often? What were the latest stories we read and what did we learn from them Homework N/A
