<p> JOE PIERCE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP</p><p>The family of Joe Pierce has established a scholarship to be awarded annually to a member of the Michigan Ontario Muskie Club. The scholarship will be awarded to one student annually in the amount of $500 dollars. The following criteria have been established for the selection of the appropriate recipient of the scholarship.</p><p>1. The scholarship shall be known as The Joe Pierce Memorial Scholarship. 2. The scholarship shall be awarded to a junior or senior high school student or student currently in college(undergraduate or graduate), returning to college(job re-training) or pursuing continuing education( trade school, certificate program etc.) 3. The funds shall be used to directly contribute to the student’s educational plans. The scholarship monies will be awarded by check written to the order of the student and the college or university. If the funds are not utilized by the end of the calendar year, the check will be returned to the Pierce family. 4. The scholarship will be provided each year, budget permitting. Every fall, scholarship applications will be forwarded to the MOMC or the Pierce family. Application deadline will be December 15th. Scholarship nominees will be announced and awarded at the annual MOMC Awards banquet 5. The selection of the recipient will be based upon the following:  2.0 or higher GPA (high school OR college)  Admission to a college or training program  Membership in the MOMC (Before opening day of the season prior to the application of the student) (Can be either a family or individual membership)  Completion of the personal information page.  A one-two page personal essay (typed, double spaced) reflecting how or why the MOMC, Lake St. Clair, the environment or conservation has impacted their lives.  Evidence of some documented volunteer efforts related to: MOMC, Lake St. Clair, the environment or conservation.  Color or design of a “Muskie Lure” attached or other. (This shall not be the primary factor in the scholarship decision, but a way of acknowledging Joe Pierce’s love of lure design.)  Submission of a completed application (including high school or college transcripts) to the MOMC or the Pierce Family,at 21910 Bradfords Ct., St. Clair Shores, MI 48080, postmarked no later than December 15th.
