Mrs Ann Orr-Ewing consigned a tremendous 1030kg Charolais cow that grossed £1292 The Primestock Show & Sale saw one of the best shows of lambs in any selling to M/s Simpson. James Kimber’s Simmental traded at 126p £1,142 and 3 market and was a credit to all vendors. Trade was strong on the best export very smart Simmental heifers from Castle Hill Partners made between £1150 and type lambs with many of the show lambs between 150p/kg – 190p/kg with the £1200 per head. Today’s best cattle all traded in excess of £1 per kg the Champion & Reserve Champion lambs weighing 39kg from M/s P & C Continental Feeding types all 80-90p. The Friesian types to feed all 55-70p with Houldey selling to £120 (308p/kg) & £100 (256p/kg) respectively to M/s the best meat Friesians mainly 90p plus topping at 108p for G J Robertson. The Reserve Champion was a TUESDAY 23 DECEMBER 660kg Limousin steer from Mr D J Cheacker which sold to 272p/kg to M/s Sale of Rearing Calves, Beef Cows & calves & Store Cattle Andrews Quality Meats. Many of the show cattle sold between 180 – Sales of Prime Lambs, Store Sheep, Cull Ewes, Beef Cattle, Barren Cows 240p/kg.
