<p> ELD Daily Lesson Plan- Intermediate Week 5 1st Grade</p><p>Theme: All about Us - Feelings Function: Explain feelings AND Seek information and clarification Objective: Students will be able to use teacher-taught emotion vocabulary and the conjunctions because and when to express their feelings and the feelings of others. Students will be able to ask others how they are feeling. Materials: Book: The Way I Feel Feelings chant Rigby poster 11x17 chart with list emotions Two 11x17 charts with sentence frames Sentence frame writing paper</p><p>Monday: I Do It: * Read the book. * Talk about 6 emotions that are on Rigby poster. </p><p>We Do It: * Learn and sing the emotion chant as a whole class. </p><p>I Do It: * Teachers introduce poster with sentence frames: How do you feel? I feel ______because ______.</p><p>We Do It: * Teachers model asking and answering questions about each other’s feelings. Teachers model appropriate feelings and faces for each of the emotions. Example: “I feel happy because today is my birthday!” Teacher directs class to make faces to match their same emotion. </p><p>Tuesday: I Do It: * Teacher reviews structure on sentence frame chart: How do you feel? I feel ______because ______.</p><p>* Teacher has class generate lists of things that make them feel happy, sad, scared, surprised, shy, angry, etc. on 11x17 pieces of paper using prompt, “ I feel ____ when ____. * (Optional) Have volunteer students come up and orally demonstrate using the sentence frame to show an emotion and the reason. You Do It: * Have students go back to their desks to write their own sentences using paper with the sentence frame on it. </p><p>Thursday: I Do It: * Teachers introduce poster with sentence frames in leveled groups: How does he/she feel? He/she feels______because ______. **Emphasize adding an “S” to the end of “feels” when you are talking about he/she. * Review which gender he/she goes with!</p><p>We Do It: * Teacher models playing charades by drawing emotion cards out of a bag and acting out different emotions and having group guess which emotion they are “feeling” by saying, “He/she feels ______!” * Have students play emotion charades. </p><p>Friday: NO SCHOOL!!</p>
