<p> SUFFOLK SHEEP SOCIETY (Northern Area Branch)</p><p>SHOW AND SALE UNITED AUCTIONS, STIRLING THURSDAY & FRIDAY 28th AND 29th JULY 2011</p><p>Sale held under Suffolk Sheep Society Rules</p><p>SHOW AND SALE REGULATIONS</p><p>1. The sale shall be strictly confined to the disposal of Suffolk Sheep, the produce of Registered Flocks and the property of elected members of the Suffolk Sheep society. No reduction or flock dispersal sales are to be included in sales sponsored by the society.</p><p>2. ALL SHEEP CONSIGNED FOR THE SALE MUST BE DOUBLE TAGGED. ONLY LAMBS BIRTH NOTIFIED WITH THE SOCIETY ON OR BEFORE THE 1ST JUNE WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR SALE.</p><p>3. All Ram Lambs must have been bred in consignor’s flock. In respect of Show Classes 1 to 4 the following shall apply:</p><p>(a) Exhibitors to be confined to one entry per class (b) No animal to be shown in more than one of these classes with the exception of the signet class In respect of Ram Championship (Open) : (a) First and second prize eligible lambs in Classes 1, 2, 3 and 4 held as entered. (b) From any pen of three lambs entered in Class 3 one animal may be entered for the championship.</p><p>In respect of Overall Championship, First Prize Winners are eligible to compete.</p><p>4. SHOW AND SALE ENTRIES – Sale entry deposit – £20. This deposit must be paid when the entries are returned otherwise they will not be accepted. </p><p>5. (i) The auctioneer will charge commission at the rate of 5% on all sales. </p><p>6. (ii) Breeder’s notes will be charged at the rate of £1.00 per line </p><p>7. Separate entry forms must be used for each category of animals entered.</p><p>8. (i) Any ram got by ET must be identified as such in the sale catalogue.</p><p>9. All sheep must be branded by the owners (red paint) with the catalogue numbers only and all substitute sheep must be marked with a red dot not less than one inch in diameter behind the lot number.</p><p>10.All consignments must be accompanied by a person in charge and penned by 10.30 am on Thursday 28th July. </p><p>11.(i) All sheep will be inspected by the Society’s official inspectors They must be clearly and correctly earmarked, be of good conformation and there must be no excessive black wool. A Vet shall also be appointed for the inspection of correct mouths and testes. Any sheep rejected by the inspectors or Vet shall not be sold during or following the end of the sale or entered at any other Society sale. The decisions of Inspectors and the Vet on any such matter shall be final and binding and the Inspectors and Vet shall be absolved from any responsibility or liability for any action taken as a result of their advice.</p><p>(ii) All sheep offered for sale must be sold through the auctioneers and shall be sold in guineas. Any charges of cost arising after sheep have been “knocked down” to a purchaser (e.g. additional haulage, accommodation charges, veterinary fees, etc.) will be borne by the purchaser (including overseas buyers). Any sheep rejected by the inspectors or Vet at a Society sale must not be sold during or following the end of the sale.</p><p>(iii) Sheep having gone through the sale ring and which are found to be physically malformed shall be reported to the auctioneers before termination of the sale. The auctioneers will arrange for such animals to be examined by a veterinary surgeon and the joint decision of the auctioneer and the veterinary surgeon in relation to such animals including payment of compensation, if any, shall be final and binding on both buyer and the seller.</p><p>(iv) Sheep with foot rot shall be removed from the saleground leaving the remainder of the consignment to be sold. In the case of contagious diseases, the whole of the consignment shall be removed from the saleground immediately.</p><p>10. (i) No colouring matter, bleaching or chemical agent (except the use of non-bloom dip and colourless oils on the head) may be used. Samples of head hair may again be collected from randomly identified animals and analysed for the presence of colouring matter. In the event of any sheep being found to have been artificially coloured, the owner will be required forthwith by the Stewards to remove from the saleground that sheep together with all other sheep contained in the same consignment. If sheep are found to have been artificially coloured the matter may be referred to the complaints committee of the council for consideration as to whether any reference should be made to the disciplinary committee.</p><p>(ii) All shearlings must have been bare shorn in the year of the sale.</p><p>11.The position in the catalogue to be decided by Ballot.</p><p>12. Any sheep presented at the ring too late to be sold in their correct catalogue order, cannot be sold until the end of the sale.</p><p>13. Minimum selling price: Rams 300 gns</p><p>Any sheep failing to reach the minimum price in its category will be passed out unsold. These figures have been adopted as minimum selling prices in the sale ring. Sheep unsold at 300 gns or over will be charged full commission on the difference between 300 gns and the reserve price.</p><p>14. The pedigrees of all sheep for sale must be detailed in the catalogue, although substitutions will be allowed. A maximum of two substitutes will be permitted per vendor, details must be given to the society office by 9.00am on Monday 25th July 2011.</p><p>15. All sheep must be sold through the Auctioneers and will be sold in guineas (£1.05). 16. Buyers must satisfy themselves that their purchases are according to the warranty prior to removal from the sale yard.</p><p>17. RAM FERTILITY GUARANTEE: The Suffolk Sheep Society Ram Fertility Guarantee will apply to this sale, and will be stated in the sale catalogue.</p><p>18.Publicity material may be displayed above the pens but only prize cards awarded at this sale may be shown.</p><p>19. If the owner requires the genotype to appear in catalogue it must be completed on entry form.</p><p>No substitute can be of lesser Genotype status than original entry</p><p>20.. If the vendor wishes their consignment to be made eligible for export then sheep must have been veterinary vaccinated for Blue Tongue prior to the sale in accordance with current regulations. All paperwork must be handed to Stewards on arrival and before sheep are unloaded. </p><p>21. The Suffolk Sheep Society have stated that for Veterinary Inspections for 2011 sales the expected testicle size for lambs should be 30cm and 35cm for shearlings. </p>
