<p> MINUTES</p><p> for the meeting of the</p><p>COMMITTEE OF THE GAUTENG FENCING ASSOCIATION</p><p> held at</p><p>OFFICES OF DIGITAL EXPLORER – TIFFSKI PROPERTIES SANDTON CITY</p><p> on</p><p>24 August 2009 at 17H00</p><p>Attendees: Apologies:</p><p>D Taylor (Chairman) A Du Plooy (Junior Development) M Stafford (Secretary) L McDonald ( Equipment ) M Baird ( PRO ) M Wood (Treasurer) C Kriel (Competition Organiser)</p><p>Action 1) Welcome The Chairman welcomed the members of the Committee and requested a report back from each portfolio.</p><p>2) Year End Function It was decided to hold a year-end function on Saturday, 24 October 2009 to DT give out awards and acknowledge achievements. DT will investigate the use of the Wanderers Club and will draw up a list of VIP’s to invite. MB will try to put numbers together and look at how many trophies we MB need. DT will sponsor all new trophies. MB will post details on the website.</p><p>3) Gauteng Tournaments It was agreed to switch the venue of Gauteng Ranking 3 competition on 5th LM and 6th September to TFS to minimise the difficulties experienced in moving piste. It was proposed to use four piste and request LM and to arrange at least three boxes from other clubs using the new boxes. DT will investigate repairing the faulty piste. DT MS to send out notices to all members. MS Schools Tournament will be held on the 19th September 2009 at Crawford MS College Sandton campus. MS to advise Provincial Chairman. DT agreed to sponsor trophies. DT MB will arrange info sheet which MS can circulate to members in other MB&MS provinces.</p><p>4) Website The website has been updated with photos and other items of interest.</p><p>5) Legal Status of GFA/Public Liability DT reported that Indemnity forms are ready. He will forward to MB to post DT on the website.</p><p>6) Financials Nothing to report.</p><p>8) Referee Courses Alex Raizman is preparing revised document and budget to run a series of MS courses in Gauteng for both parents and fencers etc. MS will circulate the proposal for approval.</p><p>9) Administrators Course CK asked to prepare a proposal which will be funded by the Lotto grant. CK</p><p>10) Marcos Lorenzo Marcos Lorenzo, Head of FIE Press, will be in Johannesburg on the 15th and MB&DT 16th September. We will be expected to spend some time with him and in particular to visit some clubs.
