I will provide a materials kit based on the project choice. These projects will provide a skill progression and build knowledge and confidence in becoming a "Thinking Knitter". Projects need to be chosen at least 2 weeks before ThTh starts so that I will have time to gather the materials. If anyone wants to learn how to knit, I will gladly set up one or two private sessions prior to the start of ThTh, then they can join the class. Cost is $5 per class. Material Kit cost will be determined according to the project chosen. If you have any questions or want to set up a learn- to-knit time, please contact Micki Hartley at 828-262-1198 or [email protected] Thank you! HAYES, HEATHER Pre-Reading Class (3 & 4 year olds). Students will have opportunity to present their finished essays creatively. We also will spend some class time practicing SAT-type timed essays. This class may be only one semester long depending on how long it takes to cover the material. Classes are $6/week. Size will be limited to 25 students. For more information about IEW curriculum, see http://www.excellenceinwriting.com About Me: I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1993 from Asbury College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. From 1993 until 1995, I was K-8 certified and taught first through third grades in Florida and North Carolina. Then my real education began when I became a mother. Since 1995 my focus has been teaching my children at home. I am a mother to 6 children, ages 14 to 2. Teaching them at home has been and continues to be one of my greatest joys. This past year I taught one writing class, designing the skills taught around the needs of my oldest children. The experience was delightful - so much so that I have submitted work for IEW certification so that I can be an accredited IEW instructor. I hope to be able to continue offering writing classes to serve as a supplement for home educating parents. To register for either of these classes, e-mail me at [email protected] or call me at 265-4916. The volume level carries so much in that room, so be respectful of teacher and students. 8. Park in the back parking lot and use the entrance at the first floor covered area which opens to the welcome center where we will have important information posted and where you can find assistance from the Monitor. Do not use the main entrance upstairs. There is never a need for children or parents to be in that area. 9. Do not allow your children in the parking lot unattended. There are vehicles coming and going at all times. This is a safety issue for your child. 10. Pay your child’s teachers at the first of the month for that month. Whether your child shows up for class or not, you are still responsible to pay the teacher for the entire month, unless class is cancelled by the teacher or because of inclement weather. Please have your child arrive on time for classes. 11. Communicate with your child’s teacher as needed, letting them know if your child will be absent. 12. For safety reasons all children age 14 and below must be supervised by an adult on the playground. FOOD will be allowed ONLY on the playground. 13. Please do not leave dirty diapers in the trash cans, but take them with you when you leave. 14. No pets allowed 15. Pray for all aspects of TTEC and that we continue to find favor with Mt. Please come prepared for your activity, be respectful and obedient to your teacher. Be kind and encouraging to other children. 2.
