<p> EGYPTIAN REVOLUTION GOVERNMENT PROJECT SCENARIO In 2011, Egyptians overthrew their leader, a president named Hosni Mubarak. People protested his rules and ideas, because he took away peoples’ rights, allowed police to torture and abuse citizens, having rigged elections (where the winner is already decided). The government was also not helping poor people. Many in Egypt felt the country needed a new government and new leaders. They elected Mohammed Morsi in 2012, but he was removed from office in July. This is where you come in. TASK Your job is to come up with a new government in Egypt based on what you have learned. You will use a “resource file” of articles and information about the Egyptian revolution to help you. This resource file will be posted online. In your project, you must answer the following questions: 1) What kind of government will you pick? (Think of the ones we talked about in class) 2) What are the most important problems your government should solve? How will you solve them? Use the articles to help you here. This could also be something the government should give to their people or let them do. 3) How will people be able to tell the government their opinions? 4) How will the government be run? Each thing you say must be connected to something we learned in class. You will receive a sheet to help you do this. PRODUCT Protesters in Egypt have used many tools, including Facebook, Twitter, and others. You will create one of the following: a Facebook page to tell people about your government and convince them your idea is good. YOU NEED TO HAVE A PAGE TITLE, A PROFILE PICTURE, STATUS UPDATES, AND AT LEAST ONE EVENT AND PHOTO POSTED ON YOUR WALL. a Twitter feed (10 posts) telling people about your government and convincing them it is good AT LEAST ONE OF THESE TWEETS MUST HAVE A PHOTO ATTACHED TO IT. Tumblr page (5 posts, each a paragraph long) telling people about your government and convincing them it is good. YOU MAY USE ANY OF THE TYPES OF POSTS IN THE GRAPHIC BELOW, BUT IT MUST EXPLAIN ALL THE INFO ON THE ORGANIZATION SHEET. Poster (on the computer or hand-drawn, must be colored) doing the same things as above Essay (at least one full, typed, 12-point font page) doing the same things above DEADLINE The project organization guide is due in class on Tuesday, February 11. On Tuesday, we will have another work day to start working on the final finished product. That finished product will be due on Tuesday, February 18. </p><p>If necessary, you must make arrangements with me to use my computers. You may use your home computer or computers somewhere else.
