Give an example.</p><p>2. Read John 14:12-14. How do you think the disciples may have responded to the idea that they would do greater works than Jesus had done? </p><p>Read John 3:5-7. How might the “work” described here be considered greater than Jesus’ miracles? </p><p>3. Read Acts 1:8 & 15 and 2:41. How does the number of believers from Jesus’ direct ministry compared to the number who believed after Peter’s first message represent a “greater work”? </p><p>Read 2 Corinthians 5:20. How is our ministry to others a “greater work”? 4. What “limitation” is placed on the promise of answered prayer in How might the “Prayer of Permission” mentioned in Sunday’s vv. 13 & 14? message (Lord, help me to want what you want for me” help us when we feel Paul’s struggle?</p><p>What does it mean to pray “in Jesus’ name” (see also James 4:2 and 1 John 5:14 & 15)? 7. Read John 14:25-31. If Jesus is God (as he repeatedly claimed to be), in what way is the Father greater than he is (v. 28) – see also Philippians 2: 6-8? </p><p>5. Read John 14:15-24. Sunday’s message suggested that Jesus’ statement in v. 15 was intended as an affirmation and encourage- ment for the disciples rather than a demand. Do you agree? Why How does the teaching of this passage give the kind of peace or why not? Jesus talks about in v. 27? </p><p>As your group prays, thank God for the ministry of the Holy Spirit and Read Ezekiel 36:26,27 and Philippians 2:12,13. What do these ask him to reveal more of his truth to you. passages say about the relationship between the Holy Spirit and obedience in the believer’s life? Requests:</p><p>6. Read Romans 7:14-25. How does Paul’s experience fit with what Jesus said about the work of the Holy Spirit and the importance of obedience? </p><p>How does Paul’s experience compare with your own?
